Physical Security Assessment

A Physical onsite security assessment is a process of evaluating the effectiveness of a specific physical location of an organisation. This could be an office, a data centre, a public facility or even a residential location. The goal of the assessment is to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in the organization's defences that could be exploited by an attacker through physical attempts to access restricted locations, and to provide recommendations for improving the organization's security.

The assessment is a simulated real-world attack on a physical security system, performed to identify vulnerabilities and assess the effectiveness of physical security measures. It involves attempting to bypass access controls, penetrate secure areas, and evaluate the physical security of facilities, assets, and personnel. The objective of a physical penetration test is to determine the potential for a real-world attacker to compromise the organization's physical security and gain unauthorized access.

This type of testing is typically performed by a team of security professionals and may include the use of social engineering techniques, lock picking, card cloning and other methods to simulate a real-world attack. Objectives are defined for this type of assessment which help to provide aims for the security consultant. Typically image or video evidence is given when these objectives are achieved.
