Ransom Message

Advanced Security For Advanced Threats

Back to our content

Have you ever wondered what you should do if you receive a ransom message?

Step 1: Cybercriminals often use intimidation to make you act quickly. Remember to stay calm; don't let fear or panic guide your actions. Avoid talking to the hacker or trying to negotiate, paying doesn't ensure a solution and supports criminal activity‼️

Step 2: Screenshot and keep any messages received by hackers as well any important information from the sender (email address, phone number, name etc)

Step 3: Report the incident to the platform you've received the message on. If you feel unsafe or believe the threat is serious contact law enforcement so they can provide further support and investigate👮

Step 4: Change your password right away! If you've used the same password elsewhere they could also be compromised so change the password for these accounts too! Make sure to review your account settings for unauthorised changes.

Step 5: If you haven't already, add an extra layer of security by enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) to your account🔒
